Press Release

The Addison County Sporting Club is newly founded this year.  Our mission as a non-profit organization of dedicated sportsmen and women working together is to advance and promote ethical traditional values of fishing, hunting, trapping and shooting sports.  We are hunters, fishers, trappers, outdoors men and women, your mothers, fathers, neighbors and community members… The main thing we have in common…We love the outdoors.  Addison County was one of only two counties in Vermont that did not have a sporting club for their communities.

Our goals are to

  •   Maintain the environmental, ecological and historic integrity of our lands and facilities

  •   Protecting and preserving our sporting rights

  •   Promote the safe use of firearms

  •   Provide a safe place to shoot, maintain and improve skills with firearms and bows

  •   Promote participation of future generations through education and mentoring

  •   Preserving and improving wildlife and freshwater habitats

  •   Maintain good public relations

We meet the second Tuesday night of the month at the Addison Fire Station (60 VT Rte 17 West, Addison, VT).  The following dates are set:  September 9, October 14, November 11 and December 9. All meetings start at 6:30 pm.  All are welcome!

We are currently looking for a parcel of land in Addison County that can be utilized for a shooting range.  Whether for pistols, rifles, shotguns or bows; this site would be an opportunity for all members to enjoy their sport.  If you know of a property that could be a good match or if you yourself have land and would be interested in talking with us, please email us at addctysportingclub@gmail.com

We are looking for members…to help us get this community project up and running.  Want to join us?  A membership is $50.00.  This can be turned in to a family membership that would include any child, ages 18 and under for no additional charge.  Each membership gets you one free t-shirt.  Additional t-shirts can be purchased for $20.00 each.

On September 9th at our meeting, we will be having a community meet and greet with burgers and dogs.  We will have folks from different area groups and agencies there to speak of any current or upcoming community projects of interest.  If you’d like to join us, please send us an email with a head count so we can have enough food on hand.  addctysportingclub@gmail.com
